Julia Brown, used to rock on her front porch and sing a song. A song that said, when I die, I’m going to take the town (Frenier) with me. There is a little more to this. She began practicing the voodoo arts and in Star Wars’ terms, she went to the dark side. On the day of her funeral, the Great West Indian hurricane of 1915 wiped out the entire town killing all but 22 of its 800 occupants. The living searched for high ground in Manchac Swamp and buried the dead in mass graves. During the hurricane Julia’s casket surfaced and they reburied her away from the others. Of course, the area is said to be haunted.
