Kathryn returns to Av’lor after seven months on the Daemon home world, only to discover the Daemons have invaded Earth. With Av’lor on the brink of an uprising and an unknown enemy upon its doorstep, the knights divide their forces to safeguard both worlds.

Sir Lanclor, torn between his duty to Av’lor and his dedication to Kathryn, finds himself fighting a losing battle on Earth. He realizes the fate of both worlds rests in the unlikely alliance of technology and magic.

Overwhelmed by a new threat far beyond that of the Daemons, both Av’lor and Earth must face a devastating reality.

The soldiers aimed their guns at the Daemons, but did not pull the triggers. Any bullets that went past the Daemons would rip into the knights beyond them. At least that removed any doubt that the soldiers viewed the knights as the enemy. Kathryn cast several shield spells and raised her hands above her head as the Daemon assault pounded them from above. With no armor or sword, her instincts made her gesture with her hands even though it wasn’t necessary. The soldiers crouched lower to the ground, but seemed to realize her shield was the only thing keeping them alive.

The Daemons roared in frustration and continued their assault on her shield. Beyond the Daemons, the Zahkrinon lunged toward Sir Lanclor. Lan brought up his sword in time to sever the creature’s hand, but he suffered a glancing blow to the head that dropped him to his knees. The Zahkrinon, roaring in agony, swung with his other hand and the impact sent Lanclor flying backward into a group of saplings.

“No!” Kathryn shouted, and then focused on getting through the Daemons before her. “F’enk’e’elath shel’an’re melan’keltoh cor’tentia ka’la’o’eleri.” The level eighty fire spell left her lips without a second thought. The Daemons around her didn’t even have time to scream before they died. The shields around them luckily dampened the heat of the spell. Weaponless, she frantically searched for a sword or dagger, only to focus upon a knife strapped to the leg of one of the soldiers.

Is there a certain type of scene that’s harder for you to write than others? Love? Action? Racy?

Good to hear from you again, Mai. For me, it’s difficult to write the love scenes as I don’t want to be too graphic, but I also want to be as realistic as possible. I strive for “tasteful” as I’m not a big fan of overly steamy romance scenes in the novels I read myself.

    Great question!
