Cap – Poetry

by Kruze

GENRE: Erotic Poetry

1.What or who inspired you to start writing?

No person inspired me to start writing. I started writing because I had a lot of thoughts in my head and writing was the only way I could organize them. Writing became a form of therapy for me.

  1. How did you come up with ideas for your books? What expertise did you bring to your writing?

My ideas come from everyday living. I can be walking down the street and see something that interest me and come up with a whole plot based off the 5 seconds of whatever I just witnessed. I brought my real life to my writing. The situations that I displayed are things that real people go through and some are afraid to actually speak on.

  1. What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio?

I want readers to know that I’m a dedicated person. I’m dedicated to my trade, my fans, Urban Legends Publishing, but most of all my family. All of these things go hand and hand, and it keeps me going. It’s what drive me every single day of my life.

  1. As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

My plans are to keep writing. As I said before it’s my therapy, my way to stay sane. I have many projects I’m working on, some as a solo author and some as a co-author.

  1. If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why?

Each character I create has a piece of me in them. But if I had to choose one to be it would be Brielle from the “Down Low” series. I choose Brielle because I actually used to live that life. Brielle has a burning desire that her husband can’t satisfy and I relate 100%. She’s concerned about how she would be viewed if she acts on her heart instead of staying in her current situation. The “Down Low” series is a four part poem but I’m definitely going to make a book out of it.

  1. If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles?

You could never go wrong with Angela Bassett and Taraji P. Henson.

  1. Do you belong to a critique group? If so how does this help or hinder your writing?

No, I don’t belong to a critique group but I have a team of people that I trust to be honest with me about my work. Everything I write pass through them before I release it to the world.

  1. When did you first decide to submit your work? Please tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step?

The very first book I started to write was called “Momma Says” and I was writing it with the intentions of getting it in the hands of Tyler Perry, hoping to make it a script. Then I thought to myself “Why should I do that when I can release it as a book and eventually turn it into a script myself?” Immediately I was motivated and determined to make it. I researched book publishing companies to submit my work and then thought, “Why submit my work to them when I can start my own company?” I told my mom and Fatima, a good friend of mine, my idea and they were behind me 100%. They drove me to create Urban Legends Publishing.

  1. What is the best and worst advice you ever received? (Regarding writing or publishing).

I don’t think I’ve received any bad advice. The best advice came from my aunt Waby. She told me to just keep writing. Whether I’m pissed off or happy she says, “Write it down,” and that’s what I do. I write everything down then see if I can use it later.

  1. Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I just start writing mainly because it’s the way my brain operates. I don’t plan I just do it and I go back to see if things need to be added or deleted.

  1. Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you’ve gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books?

My hobbies are shooting pool and spending time with family. Pool doesn’t carry over into my writings but I’ll say spending time with my family does. The things they talk about and the experiences they share with me inspire some of my stories, or a situation in my story.

  1. Do you have an all time favorite book?

Absolutely, “Standing at the Scratch Line” by Guy Johnson. It’s weird that that’s my favorite book but I write in a total different genre.

  1. Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book?

I have started several other projects. The next project I’m hoping to release at the end of this year would be Lock and Load. I’m actually a co-author on this project with an author name Ace Capone. It’s based in Lancaster, Pa and about a young man who grew up doing right in life. He graduates high school and things are going good for him until his parents are murdered. His attitude changes and he’s determined to avenge his parent’s deaths. I’m also working on The Money Team: How It All Began. This is one of my favorite projects because the characters are loosely based off my sister, my cousins, some friends, and me. It’s not a biography but the personality is what will relate us to these characters. All of us used to hang out together and one night while we were joking around we dubbed ourselves The Money Team. The project has several lead characters that are going to be brought together by separate events. You can read more about these projects at

  1. Who are your favorite actor and actress?

I don’t have a favorite actor but my favorite actress is Angela Bassett.

  1. Can you tell us a little about the black moment in your book?

Cap – Poetry is a compilation of poetry so there would be no black moment in this particular book.

  1. What is your favorite reality show?

I don’t really watch reality TV, but I’m currently interest in Chasing Destiny with Kelly Rowland.

  1. Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series?

In Cap – Poetry writing the Down Low series was interesting. I sent the poems one by one to several people and they kept asking for more. Actually, that’s how it became a series, they wanted more.

  1. Anything else you might want to add?

I just want to add that I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my work and to be blessed with this gift.

Cap – Poetry is a compilation of short poems that’ll have you shaking your head and dropping your jaw at the same time. The poems focus on love, sex, relationships, and life, all from the viewpoint of a Capricorn.

Standing at the alter waiting for my future bride.

Joking with my Best Woman but hiding how I feel inside.

Since many love us together I figured we should do this.

But deep down inside I doubt this would be marital bliss.

The song starts and our guests rise to their feet.

Sweat pouring down my face like someone turned up the heat.

Hands starts to shake and people think it’s my nerves.

But the truth is I’m mad because I feel marriage is for the birds.

Now I’m staring at the ceiling wishing that I could take it all back.

Why did I get myself in this? My thoughts are off track.

I need to buy some time to figure a way out.

How the hell did I let “Will you marry me?” come out of my mouth.

I blame my mom because they are too close.

I told her to chill out but she stays doing the most.

My sister was in on it too, even helped plan this thing.

Forcing me out of bed to buy a beautiful wedding ring.

Shifting my weight at the alter as panic is setting in.

How could I be marrying this girl when I’m sleeping with her friend?

Her family thinks that I’m perfect while I’m doing so wrong.

Telling her that I love her but hiding pictures in my phone.

I wanted to end this and tell her to find another fish in the sea.

She’s a lovely woman but just not someone for me.

The whispers bring me out my trance. “Here comes the bride,” they’re saying.

I see my life is about to end so I just start praying.

Lord if you get me out of this I promise not to return to this place.

I started to stop the wedding then realized it was too late.

My future bride is in my sight marching down in her gown.

Here she comes with her father, what do I do now?

I take his spot next to her and we continue making our way.

This is some bullshit. I definitely had better days.

“You may all be seated,” the minister said to our guests.

Then he continued with the ceremony as my heart race in my chest.

I make it to our vows, she went first with hers.

Damn, she should be with someone else because I’m not who she deserves.

I’m up next. It’s time to take my vows.

Take a deep breath and wipe sweat from my brows.

“You know that I love you.” A lump formed in my throat.

My mouth suddenly got dry as soon as I spoke.

“You’re okay!” Someone yelled from their seat.

But whoever it was definitely didn’t know me.

Tears formed in my eyes as I grab my chest then neck.

Everyone went into a panic when I hit the deck.

“Someone call the ambulance,” I heard my mother cry.

I rather fake a heart attack because marriage is suicide.
