Beautiful Sorrento Italy is a driver’s nightmare. It is wedged on a ledge under the mountains and over the Mediterranean, surrounded by lemon and olive groves. An attractive resort that is well located for sightseeing. Sorrento is the gateway to the Malfi coast and has an unspoiled old quarter, lively shopping and animated gelato vendors.
Looking down from the busy shopping areas one can see a deep gorge that along with the cliffs provided defense against the turks. There are steps leading down that were carved in the 5th century B. C.
A narrow street, about six feet wide, that goes back centuries before Christ.
