GENRE: Erotic Romance (M/M)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Betrayed by a lover, Jamie rents an isolated cabin on Lake Huron, wanting only to be left alone. Instead, he is pulled from his solitary existence as an artist and tumbles headlong into the legend of Saint Nicolas.
As a young man, Nicolas accidentally killed a man intent on murdering three children, only to have the man’s malicious spirit rise up against him. Fleeing through the centuries from the Krampus, the evil troll-like creature that dogs his steps, Nico finds refuge with the young artist who takes him into his home and bed. But Jamie has questions. Who is Nicolas, and why does the Krampus want to destroy him?
When the Krampus begins to torment and torture anyone Nico comes in contact with to punish him, Jamie’s life is put in danger. And Jamie isn’t sure whether he can help Nico defeat his nemesis or if he’s merely a pawn in the Krampus’s game.
EXCERPTS:
Nico ran fingers through his curls, absently untangling a few knots as he contemplated Jamie on the couch beside him. How could anyone be cruel to this gentle, nurturing man? Jamie was a miracle, really, a gift to end Nico’s loneliness after an eternity of isolation. But did he have the right to accept him, to knowingly put him in danger?
He sighed in frustrated doubt and Jamie glanced at him and away, but not before Nico saw the anguish on his face. Damn, he’d hurt him deeply, when all he wanted was to crush him to his chest and kiss him breathless. His heart jumped and pride swept through him when Jamie raised his chin and turned to face him, looking determined. So brave!
“Who is Piter?”
Nico blinked at him, stunned. “You know of him?”
“He brought you to the cabin.” Jamie looked suddenly panicked. “You don’t remember?”
Nico slowly shook his head, dread creeping along his spine. “He spoke to you?”
Impatience flashed over Jamie’s face. “Yes! Will you tell me what the hell is going on? You’re starting to scare me.”
Nico searched his face. Yes, fear made him pale, emphasizing the scattered freckles across his nose and cheeks. But courage swam with the uncertainty in his eyes. And deep inside, behind the fragile walls of his heart, the first embers of love flickered.
Nico drew a quick breath. Anything was possible, if Jamie loved him. He’d have to move with care, though. Such tiny sparks were easily crushed out. Before, he’d wanted to push Jamie away. He now ached to keep this joy for himself, however selfish the thought. But how much to tell him? And what would Jamie think of him afterwards?
While he mulled over what to say, the hope faded from Jamie’s bright face, replaced by a sadness he failed to hide. He looked into the fire, and Nico heard his discouraged breath. “You won’t tell me.”
“I will. I don’t know where to start.”
“Beginnings are good.”
Nico snorted and the hint of a smile on Jamie’s face eased the tightness in his chest. He picked up Jamie’s clenched hand and coaxed the fingers open, clasped it in his. “First, will you please tell me how you know Piter? Then I’ll tell you my story.”
Jamie nodded, looking at their twined hands. Nico raised them to his lips and savored Jamie’s gasp when he kissed his knuckles. “Angelo mio,” he murmured and lost his heart a little more when Jamie blushed.
But then Jamie’s expression turned serious, and he sat up straighter, coughing slightly to clear the roughness from his voice. “I dreamed of Piter right before I found you on my dock that night.”
“What?” Nico tried to temper his anger when Jamie looked at him in surprise. “What was this dream?”
He frowned when the color deepened in Jamie’s cheeks, and he clenched his free hand, rage burning white hot in him when Jamie moistened his lips before confessing, “He was in my bed.”
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Dianne grew up in one of the older homes in the middle of Los Angeles, a place of hardwood floors and secret closets and back staircases. A house where ghosts lurk in the basement and the faces in the paintings watch you walk up the front stairs. Rooms where you keep the closet doors closed tight at night. It’s where her love of the mysterious and wonderful came from. Dianne is the author of paranormal/suspense, fantasy adventure, m/m romance, and anything else that comes to mind.
She now lives in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon with her incredibly patient husband, who puts up with the endless hours she spends hunched over the keyboard letting her characters play. Dianne says Oregon’s raindrops are the perfect setting in which to write. There’s something about being cooped up in the house with a fire crackling on the hearth and a cup of hot coffee in her hands, which kindles her imagination.
Currently, Dianne works as a floral designer in a locally-owned gift shop. Which is the perfect job for her. When not writing, she can express herself through the rich colors and textures of flowers and foliage.
