GENRE: Paranormal Romantic Suspense

  1. What or who inspired you to start writing?

I don’t remember a time when I didn’t love to write, or want to tell stories. My first “book” was called The Hungry Dragon and was a story about a purple dragon who had a huge appetite for cupcakes! The pictures were drawn in crayon and every page had one line of story beneath it. It was well received by my mother and her friends but was a limited edition!
2. How did you come up with ideas for your books?

Ideas for books come at me from all kinds of places. Snippets of conversation overheard in an airport, a dusty shaving mug in a little antique shop, or a headline on the news all send my mind into overdrive. It just takes one odd bit of information or a silly, unexpected sight to begin the creative process.
What expertise did you bring to your writing?
3. What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio?

I am a huge supporter of the Bone Marrow Registry—I do all I can to discuss becoming part of the registry with anyone and everyone who will listen. The test is simple, just a cheek swab, and the potential outcome is saving a person’s life. I’ve been profoundly touched by blood cancer and the horror it brings, so as I said, I do all I can to help those afflicted by it.
4. As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

I plan to write until I stop breathing! I love my job and see no end to sitting at my desk and writing stories. I am currently working on the second book in The Octopus series, so that is exciting. It will release in December 2017. And I have two other books releasing in 2017, so the writing plans are definitely keeping me busy.
5. If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why?

If I could be anyone, I would be Nicole Anima. She’s brilliant, beautiful, and badass but she’s also vulnerable. She’s been wounded, struggles with a gift she didn’t ask to have and isn’t sure she wants, and just wants to live a good, happy, productive life. She saves the world, keeps monsters and criminals in their place, and never backs down. Yes, I’d certainly love to be Agent Anima!
6. If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles?

I’ve thought about this…the daydream of seeing the story on the big screen and I’ve chosen two people who could pull of these characters so well, they’d jump from the screen. Kit Harington from Game of Thrones fame would make a perfect Benjamin Sinclair. He’s hot, strong, and sexy but also looks ready to sweep a woman off her feet and carry her tenderly in his arms! Natalie Portman is my choice for Nicole Anima because she’s so expressive and there are layers to this agent that she would definitely recognize and portray.

7. Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I do not outline my books although I do have a love affair with Post-it notes! I actually get an idea, open a file, and begin writing. While I’m writing, I keep a book journal to keep facts straight, note points of view, or jot down potential plot knots. Every book I write has its own journal, which I use during revisions and edits, also.
8. Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you’ve gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books?

I do like to travel and it’s very helpful when writing. I’m able to put characters in places I’ve seen, have them visit cafes I’ve frequented, and the details I recall from my explorations can be integrated into stories. Parts of REGENERATE take place in cities I’ve visited, and writing those scenes was like visiting the places over again!
9. Do you have an all time favorite book?

I have a wide range of reading tastes but if I have to choose it would be Gone With the Wind. I’m just a fan from way back, and I never grow tired of the characters or the story.
10. Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book?

I have begun the second book in The Octopus series. Agents Anima and Sinclair face a different evil in this book, made even more difficult by the fact that they are getting deeper into an interpersonal relationship. Sinclair may be regenerated commando but he’s still a man on his own terms—which means he may be feeling a bit protective toward his partner, something that could send her over the edge—and not in a good way! They struggle with a global crisis and personal issues in this book…and I’m loving giving them a difficult time on their save-the-world adventure!
11. Who is your favorite actor and actress?

I am a big Al Pacino fan. He’s always believable, and I like that.
12. Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series.

I have written a series in the past and honestly it’s one of my favorite things to do. With a series there’s continuity. The world and some characters are already in place, so it’s nice to build on that and add dimension and events to what’s gone before. It’s like revisiting old friends. Very much like going home for a writer, to write a series.

The Octopus isn’t an urban myth—and its agents are anything but ordinary. The intelligence bureau is so well-hidden most doubt its existence. A handful know its location. And fewer walk the halls in the subterranean compound.

Benjamin Sinclair didn’t ask to be a scientific miracle but every mission has its risks and one perfectly-placed bullet ended his life—for a brief moment in time.

Nicole Anima battles demons every day. Life as a paranormal resources operative gives her tortured mind a rest—and keeps her from contemplating her own death.

When Anima and Sinclair partner on a globe-trotting race to eliminate the threat about to cripple humanity, all hell breaks loose. Leaping from planes, crashing into continents, dealing with voodoo priestesses, and running through jungles with zombies hot on their trail doesn’t leave much time for romance, but this duo somehow manages to sizzle.

Two agents. Telepathic mind paired with regenerated commando. One world—and a mission to save it.

Even perspiration couldn’t keep the hair on the nape of her neck from bristling at the sound of Sinclair’s deep voice. Rising to his bait wouldn’t get her anywhere. Neither would angering him, but on that score she didn’t care.

“I won’t do it.” She forced her parched throat to swallow. Straightening, she fisted a hand on her left hip and spread her legs. The shooting pose came naturally. “I refuse. I don’t work for you—and I won’t work with you. Never again.”

“Never doesn’t scare me.”

“Why would it? The never concept only works for humans.”

Her blood pressure felt higher than it had when she’d been running full out.

“Now, don’t get yourself all worked up. It won’t do you any good, and somewhere deep inside that gorgeous body of yours, you know it.” He paused, then chuckled again. “I can help with that, you know.”

The sudden turn in their conversation brought her guard down.

“Help with what?”

“Satisfaction. I can satisfy you…if you’ll let me. Jagger makes a good song but he sure can’t give you what you want.”

Facts ran in her head like a movie on high speed, reminding her of crucial bits of information about the man on the other end of the phone. Practical ones like how he took his coffee. Black, no sugar. Emotional facts, regarding his family. He didn’t have any. All killed in a horrific airplane crash in the Ecuadorean jungle. Logical details about his illogical existence.

So many things, yet she’d forgotten one of the most basic. His scientifically enhanced mind. Three minutes, and already he’d snared her in his web.
