Blissful Disaster

by Amy L. Gale

GENRE: Young Adult Romance

  • What or who inspired you to start writing? My friends in my girls book club. They encouraged me to follow my dreams.
  • How did you come up with ideas for your books? The whole story plays in my mind like a movie and I just write it down. A lot of my ideas come to me when I’m sleeping so I jump up from the bed and write them down.

What expertise did you bring to your writing? Hmm. Well, there are some parts that loosely follow real life but it’s mostly fiction. I add in some experiences I’ve had at concerts, hotels, and the beach.

  • What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio? I love red lipstick, I’m a huge horror fan although I write romance, and I love Led Zeppelin.
  • As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans? I’m in three box sets this year (a PNR, a forbidden romance, and a holiday romance).
  • If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why? Lexie from Blissful Tragedy. She possesses a lot of the qualities I admire in a woman. She’s strong and independent, loyal to her friends, and never turns her back on love.
  • If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles? Chris Helmsworth and Ashley Benson
  • Do you belong to a critique group? If so how does this help or hinder your writing? I don’t belong to a group but I have a few author friends who are my critique partners. It helps tremendously because they are honest and help me find plot holes, etc.
  • When did you first decide to submit your work? Please tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step? My friends encouraged me to submit even though I was scared to death to do it. I swear it took me about a half hour to hit the send button on that email.
  • What is the best and worst advice you ever received? (regarding writing or publishing) Best Advice: Make sure you have strong Goals, motivation, conflict to help sustain your plot.

Worst Advice: Write fast to get more books out. I am sure this works for some authors but I need to be ready and not rush when I’m working on a manuscript.

  1. Do you outline your books or just start writing? I outline.
  2. Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you’ve gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books? I bake and decorate cakes and love to attend live concerts. Yes, both of these have trickled into my books.
  3. Do you have an all time favorite book? The Stand
  4. Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book? Yes. I’m writing a paranormal romance about a supernatural hunter and the town’s female coroner who’s more than she seems.

  1. Can you tell us a little about the black moment in your book? The black moment in Blissful Disaster happens when Tyler accompanies Ali to a gala and starts a fist fight with her egotistical co-worker, putting her career and their relationship in jeopardy.
  2. What is your favorite reality show?
  3. Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series. I know the characters so well, they’re like family. I love jumping in and telling their stories.

One night stands.

Career-driven Ali Whitman, never dreamed of having one, until she finds herself waking up next to a handsome tattooed man she knows nothing about. After celebrating her promotion to field reporter at Entertainment Rocks! magazine, she breaks her number one rule – to focus on work without the distraction of the opposite sex.

Tyler Young lives by his own set. As bassist for Devil’s Garden, he exudes sexual energy and lives for the moment; no strings attached, no regrets, and no looking back.

When the two are brought face to face during an interview it goes sour, sparking a string of disasters. As their feelings for each other grow, they find themselves living by a new set of rules, but demons from the past haunt their new found love. Is it possible to crawl from the ashes of the aftermath or will it all go down in flames?

Perfect bliss or complete disaster?

Throbbing pain pulsates through my head, sending echoes of agony through every crevice of my skull. I lift my head and grimace. Bad idea. My heartbeat pounds a fierce rhythm in my ears. If it’s possible for a human brain to explode, mine wants to unleash the wrath of an atomic bomb. It’s like I’m reliving the morning after my twenty-first birthday, three years later. Well, the hair of the dog theory never seemed to work for me. Maybe a little fresh air will help. I rub my eyes and spring into a sitting position. Bright rays of sunlight burst through the window, temporarily blinding me. I’m never drinking again. Sure, I’ve told myself that after almost every hangover. Why don’t I listen? Within seconds everything becomes clearer. A ripple of soft satin flows across the length of my queen-sized bed, moving toward me like a snake slithering through the grass. A silhouette enrobed in the white sheets lies asleep on the opposite side of me. I cover my mouth holding in the scream that’s dying to escape. No, I couldn’t have. I mean, I came to L.A. to pursue a professional writing career and now I’m a one-night floozy. Oh my God, what the hell happened last night?
